Peer Support

This week the class had a chance to tackle the obstacle course on the field during their P.E. session. This course is easy for some, pushes others really out of their comfort zones and for others, they have to face fears such as a fear of heights. The hope is always that the class will all experience success and often this means that students really have to collectively support their classmates. This year was no exception and  yet again, H5 shone displaying kindness and empathy to others. You are amazing H5!

Read Theory

I have registered your child for an online program to support my reading lessons in class. They have sat a pretest to determine their level of comprehension and level of text. They are given in class time to complete quizzes in class and are also able to access and work on quizzes at home. For incorrect answers, an explanation is given. Please feel free to work through incorrect responses but please don't give answers during the quiz because the result will mean they will progress to a higher text which they may not be ready for 'YET'!   What is Read Theory?   Read Theory is a powerful educational tool that offers online reading activities for all ages and ability levels. Our custom web application adapts to students’ individual ability levels and presents them with thousands of skill building exercises that suit their needs. Is Read Theory right for my child?   Our quizzes span the full range of reading levels, beginning with elementary school reading and ending with

Introduction to this Blog

Hi Whanau, caregivers and supporters of Hurungaterangi 5. It has been an awesome start to the year and the class is rolling along nicely. Systems are in place and there is beginning to be a sense of belonging felt. This blog will act as a portal for you to access and get a feeling of what is happening. There are separate pages devoted to Math and Literacy where examples from the students as well as insights into what we are doing in those areas, will be posted. In addition to this, any notices or reminders will be posted in the notices section. Please feel free to place comments at any time. Hopefully I will add posts at least once a week. Looking forward to a great year with your children. Mrs B
