Post Flood

Well the big wet of April that hit Rotorua also impacted 4 classrooms at R.I.S, Culinary Arts, Hauora, Te Roro o te Rangi 5, and our class Hurangaterangi 5.
Initially this just meant early morning mopping and sorting out soggy resources prior to class starting for the term.
Soaking carpet on left with water across to wall.
                                                            Just inside front door.
Water mark left showing depth of water.
The art storage room and office were all affected as was each corner of the room, who knew that the concrete floor bowed in the middle, great for drainage.
Since then builders and assessors have been in and as of Monday 3pm, 7th May, we had to move to alternate teaching spaces after packing up every square cm of our class.

And I mean every square cm...art storage room now...

The skirting boards have been removed and the wall framing checked for moisture content. Shelving will also be removed from the damper areas. Over the next few weeks, the room will be fixed and the hope is that we will be back in our classroom by Week 5 or 6.
A huge thank you to Taeotu for giving us their Media room and end teaching space so that our now modified programme, can continue.
To the H5 students, you have managed this upheaval very well and are to be acknowledged for your resiliance and flexibility.
